The Neurotox Laboratory is a fully integrated research facility uniquely specialising in neurotoxicology, environmental risk assessment and neuroactive-active drug discovery.

We offer comprehensive laboratory services in:
standard ecotoxicity biotests using small aquatic model organisms, assessment of neurotoxicity, advanced neuro-behavioural test strategies in chemical risk assessment and neuro-active drug discovery.

We routinely perform many standard aquatic toxicity biotests using small aquatic models according to OECD and EPA guidelines. 

We can also conduct rapid Fish Embryo Toxicity (FET, OECD TG236) tests with wild-type and transgenic zebrafish (Danio rerio) lines.

Additionally we have capabilities to perform mechanistic studies with advanced cell-based and molecular bioassays including programmed cell death, mitochondrial function tests, transgenic zebrafish lines and more.


We have significant know-how in rapid video-based chemobehavioral phenotyping aimed at: rapid activity prioritisation of neurotoxic chemicals, discovery & characterization of neuroactive chemicals as well as risk assessment of potential neurotoxicity side-effects.

We have a wide range of invertebrate and fish models available for diverse tests including advanced sensory-motor function and maze tests.


We provide comprehensive design services and support for studies implementing neuro-behavioural phenotypic analysis using small aquatic organisms. We also provide consultation services for designing of mechanistic ecotoxicity studies.

We can support the studies from the stage of experiment planning and design to equipment selection, optimisation of data acquisition condition, high-throughput data acquisition and even high-throughput data analytics.


We have developed industry-leading pipelines for high-throughput (HT) behavioural data analytics.

We can perform rapid optimisation of large experimental video archives with subsequent large scale animal tracking in most behavioural experiments utilising aquatic animals.


We specialise in design, prototyping and innovative applications of micro perfusion systems (microfluidics & millifluidics) for small aquatic model organisms. In this regard we have pioneered systems for automation of Fish Embryo Toxicity (FET) test as well as neuro-behavioural bioassays.

We can rapidly design and fabricate systems for diverse custom biological applications. 


We specialise in design, prototyping and fabrication of innovative bioanalytical technologies aimed at analysing of aquatic animal behaviour and automation of ecotoxicity tests.

We can support the existing R&D or execute the entire R&D pipeline from the design stage to equipment prototyping together with software development and final integration.
